International Orientation and Survive Guide

For some of you, moving to a new country and starting a new life may be the scariest thing you have ever done. It’s almost as scary as surviving a zombie apocalypse. Almost. But, fret not fellow tigers because MISC has got you covered with an annual survival guide and an international orientation. This handy booklet contains everything you need to know from academic support on campus to the best grocery stores in town. And the best parts? It’s easier than surviving an apocalypse and you will feel right at home in no time.

International Welcome Party
When: Early September
Where: Student Center
he International Student Welcome Party is for international students and scholars as well as domestic students. The Missouri International Student Council uses this opportunity to initiate and organize a unified welcoming party. International student groups serve food from their countries and provide information about their culture.
When: Mid October
Where: On campus/ off campus
The Homecoming celebration at Mizzou has become a grand tradition and one of MU's largest events. Recently, the University of Missouri's Homecoming celebration has been named the best Homecoming in the nation; it is also held up as a model Homecoming program by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education. MISC is now a part of the Homecoming Parade, encouraging international students to submerge themselves in one of Mizzou’s biggest traditions.
When: End of Spring Semester, usually April

When MISC was founded, the International Banquet was held as a yearly commemoration to outstanding individuals within the international body and affiliated. It served to thank all those who had made remarkable efforts towards providing for the international body. MISC reinstated this tradition in May 2013 after 4 years. The banquet is our most prestigious event.
When: Late September
Where: Traditions Plaza
The International Flag Day Parade is held annually to raise awareness of the diverse students and faculties present at MU. The flags represent the variety of countries MU students originating from and are carried by both national and international students. Students carrying the flags walk around campus to showcase the beautiful colors of the flags.
Following the parade, the International Bazaar is held at Carnahan Quad. During the bazaar, international students offer a taste of their culture to mid-Missouri. Students can enjoy free food, beverages, and cultural displays.
Games Of Champions
When: Mid November
Where: Rec Center
A time when all of the different culture on campus are welcomed to come together and have a sports day. MISC holds the game like 3 vs. 3 basketball game, 4 vs. 4 volleyball game, and 4 vs. 4 Relay Race. The winning team of each game will be given prizes! It is also a great time to come together and really get to know each other in the international and Mizzou community.
